The blood-red longhorn beetle (Anastrangalia sanguinolenta) is a disperser that plays an important role in the forest food cycle. Without them, nutrients in the dead organic matter would go unused.
Forest gaps allow flowering plants to flourish. A dark and
dense old-growth forest may not provide the best conditions for pollinators, for example. Open areas with plenty of flowering plants are particularly attractive to bumblebees.
