The ratio is calculated by comparing weighted average of basic salaries of women to men on the same job grade, for the nine biggest countries in terms of salaried employees. These countries cover 89% of UPM’s total number of salaried employees.

According to the calculation 46% of the direct and indirect fossil carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions are related to UPM’s energy use, but raw materials, transportation and processing of sold products also have a significant impact. CO 2 emissions related to energy use reduced by 6% in 2019. More details are available at upm. com/responsibility.
