CODE OF CONDUCT REVISITED UPMHAS REVISED its Code of Conduct to ensure that it is up-to- date and covers all major compliance risks looking to the near future. The Code is revisited regularly to keep up with fast-paced changes in the business world. All UPMers will complete e-learning and Code team discussions in conjunction with the launch of the new Code, which will be available in 18 languages.

Pumping up hydro capacity HYDROPOWER OFFERS a partial solution to the increasing need for low- emission, renewable energy. UPMEnergy will launch an extensive renovation and modernisation project to increase the production capacity of its Kuusankoski hydropower plant from an annual average of 180 GWh to 195 GWh. Scheduled to run until the end of 2022, the project will be carried out one turbine-generation unit at a time. streams provide nutrients essential for biological wastewater treatment while also reducing the amount of nutrients ending up in natural waters. The nutrient recycling initiative is the third joint project between UPM and the BSAG. The project is part of UPM’s Biofore Share and Care programme, in which responsible water use is a key focus area.

Fighting eutrophication with the Baltic Sea Action Group

UPM IS ENGAGED in long-term collaboration with the Baltic Sea Action Group (BSAG) to prevent eutrophication of the Baltic Sea and Finnish waters – a challenge requiring intensive collaboration between various parties.
