The long-term relationship with these companies enables the improvement of efficiency levels and the quality of operations, as well as the development of competencies in those communities within the sphere of influence. We work together with service providers and carry out systematic monitoring activities in accordance with quality standards. UPM has an Internal Audit Department with the main aim of monitoring and controlling compliance with labour, tax and social security obligations as well as other legal and management requirements that each kind of activity requires.

AUDITS TO CONTRACTING COMPANIES In 2021, we conducted 265 on-site audits on more than 104 contracting companies to verify compliance with work and legal certifications, as well as safety obligations. Upon completion of this process, an audit report is sent to the contractor.
