MORE INFORMATION ON UPM’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE CONSERVATION OF FLORA IN URUGUAY

APPROXIMATELY 65% OF ALL SPECIES THAT MAKE UP THE COUNTRY’S FLORA have been found in UPM Forestal Oriental lands during the last five years. A total of 33 plant species were registered for the first time in Uruguay on UPM lands, thus increasing the number of plant species in the country. Among them are Chloraea bella (Orquidaceae), Conyza lorentzii (Asteraceae), Leptochloa chloridiformis (Poaceae) and Ipheion tweedianum (Alliaceae). A species new to science was also recorded: Antiphytum charruasorum (Boraginaceae).
