SOIL The focus on soil issues is divided into priority areas related to productivity, pollution prevention and erosion control. Agriculture, forestry, construction, and infrastructure all compete for land use and, since the land on earth is limited, it is vitally important to keep the soil in good condition. Soil constitutes the base of most ecosystems, and UPM is committed to minimising the potential impact of forestry by preventing and controlling erosion, avoiding degradation, and maintaining forests for future generations.
