A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH SARANDÍ DEL YÍ AND ITS COMMUNITY

The start of operations for our new nursery in Sarandí del Yí was an important milestone for the community. By working together with local leaders and institutions, we promoted different activities and training to prepare the community for the new job opportunities surrounding the new nursery. For over 15 years, UPM Forestal Oriental has been present in Sarandí del Yí with forestry operations in the area and has spent the last six working on community involvement through a group of leaders who meet periodically. Their goal is to look for proposals that contribute to the development of the community, and help keep them informed of the company’s

For this we promoted a course called “Forging encounters: women in action” which included eight different workshops with more than 80 women. The workshops covered topics such as commitment, self-awareness, patriarchal models and gender roles, assertive communication, family dynamics, worker’s rights
