WE CONTINUE BETTING ON FORESTRY RESEARCH IN URUGUAY
This past year - 2022 - was a very important year for our Research & Development activities. In May we inaugurated the first UPM Forestry Research Centre in Paysandú, the first in the world which specialises in Eucalyptus plantations. This centre is a clear example of the company’s commitment to research and development towards sustainable forestry. Research activities are especially focused on developing genetic material with increased productivity, optimal wood quality and tolerance to predominant pests and diseases that can affect plantations in Uruguay. To this end, the centre has state-of-the-art labs and equipment, as well as specific greenhouses for different research and development purposes.
